They say “it’s not the destination, it’s the journey.” They say “stop and smell the roses.” And this couldn’t be more true for the creation of, and experience in @legreatoutdoor . While you’re at it, smell the burning charcoal, the natural wine, and listen to the chatter of people reconnecting.

Chef Rudy has a story we could sit around the fire and listen to until the embers go out. After moving to LA from France, Chef Rudy had the vision and passion to open a restaurant of his own, but in the height of the pandemic was left with little resources and no funding. What he did have, however, was his culinary skillset, business acumen, focus on community, and unimpeded drive to get it all done. While talking to Chef Rudy, he didn’t complain a single time. Instead, he was proud he went through that troubling time because something beautiful rose out of it.

Le Great Outdoor is true to the name. Hidden in Santa Monica, this European barbecue spot will pull you into a gorgeous, curated forest. One of the star players of this restaurant is the grill, who greets you right away as the smell walks up to your car before you even step foot inside. At night, the grill becomes a performer that illuminates the restaurant with an orange hue. And don’t we all love dinner and a show?

Colorful flower bouquets, massive sycamore trees, and outdoor furniture fill the restaurant— And just like the menu, the plants are seasonal and just as much a part of the experience. The team greatly cares for them, much like an art piece. The environment feels open like you could be at your best friend’s backyard bbq, but also elevated and refined.

We encourage you to take a break on this journey. Le Great Outdoor is there for you to smell the roses, enjoy the scenery, eat vibrant food, and know that you are surrounded by le greatest people aka LGO staff. Then, go achieve your dream!
